Nursing School Scholarship Program
ABOUT THE NURSING SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The ONW Nursing School Scholarship Program promotes Mississippi's nursing pre-licensure PN, ADN, ASN, traditional BSN, RN-to-BSN completion, and graduate Advanced Degree programs (MSN, DNP, or a Ph.D.). Each nursing school must adhere to the eligibility requirements and be responsible for awarding scholarship funding to eligible student recipients.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Nursing schools that meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Must be an accredited nursing school in Mississippi.
- Has a primary campus located within the state.
- Must complete and submit the required Institution Scholarship Application Form in full.
AWARD AMOUNT AND TERMS:
- Award amounts may vary each year based on the availability of funds.
- ONW determines the dollar amount of the school disbursements.
- ONW will disburse allotted funds to eligible schools pending application approval.
- The total amount of funds distributed from the schools to the students must equal the amount awarded by ONW.
- One check per eligible school will be processed and mailed certified to the Designated School Representative who completes the Institution Scholarship Application Form.
HOW TO APPLY?
The nursing school must submit the Institution Scholarship Application / Scholarship Award Commitment Form by August 14, 2025. Please complete the application by clicking this link (coming soon).
Each school may submit only one application covering all nursing disciplines. Schools selected for the program are responsible for awarding scholarship funds to eligible students and ensuring that the funds are applied to educational expenses such as tuition, fees, supplies, room and board).
APPROVAL PROCESS:
Once the application is submitted, the ONW staff will review it. If approved, an award letter will be sent to the designated school representative, and the school and student receiving the scholarship will complete and submit the Scholarship Recipient and Accountability Forms.

DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT AND SCHOLARSHIP ACCOUNTABILITY FORMS:
- December 2, 2025 - Fall disbursement.
- April 1, 2026 - Spring & summer disbursement.
FUND DISTRIBUTION:
Schools are responsible for awarding scholarship funds to eligible students by the designated deadlines. An eligible student is one who:
- Is enrolled in an accredited nursing program in the state.
- Is in the last two semesters of their nursing program.
- Hold an unencumbered Mississippi nursing license (if already licensed).
- Is not receiving a full scholarship from another source, which would result in an overpayment status when combined with ONW funds.
IMPORTANT:
The ONW will not review incomplete or late nursing school applications. Schools must ensure all funds are distributed correctly to avoid disqualification.
